Bringing beautiful garments crafted by artisans to my clients also inspired me to think of other ways I could support this unique native industry. I decided that $1 of every purchase should go back to help provide food and education for the poor children of Peru. I looked for organizations that were well established and found several programs that were doing valuable work.

Andean Vision not only provides food and clothing for children, but also teaches the children traditional weaving techniques. They produce lovely items which are then sold for additional revenue and I have been proud to purchase their beautiful work to use as gifts during the holidays. Centro Victoria has two programs which aid children and young adults. They provide children with a safe and nurturing place in which to learn and grow, but they have also taken on the more difficult task of drug addiction among the young. They are currently building a center for rehabilitation, much of which is being built by the young men and women who are in the program. Each time I visit I see more of their dreams coming to life and I am gratified to be a small part of it. If you would like to help the children directly, you can contact or visit and see the work that's being done by Pastor Luis Salazar, and if you would like to help build the center for rehab, you can contact or visit Pastor Ricardo in Lima at centrovictoriaperu.com.

Inca Textiles has also organized a weekly breakfast for local children, where both food and educational activities are provided [ SEE PICTURES]. We've also recently started a project with Titi Guiulfo, "Wawakuna Awanku" or "Children Weaving" [ SEE PICTURES]. A special donation from Anne de Brouwer in 2007 enabled us to provide more than 250 presents and a happy Christmas for local children. [ SEE PICTURES ]
